He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, Horry County Bar, North Carolina State Bar, and North Carolina Bar Association. He is also an accredited VA benefits attorney. Bret served on the Myrtle Beach Board of Zoning Appeals from 2000-2002, the HorryCounty Probate AdvisoryCouncil from 2003-2014, and on the Resolution of Fee Dispute Board for the 15th Judicial Circuit for several years. He has also served on the Legacy Advisory Council, Chanticleer Athletic Foundation, and Accounting Advisory Board at Coastal Carolina University. Bret has lectured to various estate planning, probate, and special needs groups regarding the related legal topics.
He earned his B.S. degree in Finance and Insurance and Economic Security from the University of South Carolina; his J.D. degree from Mississippi College School of Law, where he received the American Jurisprudence award in corporate tax; and his LL.M. degree and Certificate in Estate Planning from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law. Bret is an active member of his church and married with three children, and enjoys playing golf and working on his family farm.
Jamie Elgaway has been with since she moved to South Carolina, from Northern Virginia in 2018. She began her career as a paralegal in 2010 processing foreclosures and evictions. She quickly decided she had rather help people so she moved on to do Estate Planning. She obtained her paralegal certificate from George Mason University in 2012. Jamie is married with three children, one of whom still lives at home. She is an avid bowler and loves spending time with her family on the beach.
